⚜️3. 100 billion target is a joke if we want to solve climate problem we need atleast 1 trillion an year! and whatever we were able to mobilise only around 70-80 billion and that too as loan ( read point 2)

📍Now read the second article from IE from 18th nov newspaper club these 2 articles- pl remember that you are not journalists trying to break some news- it is OKAY NOT TO finish the articles on same day- but to selectively read them- the news you read should make sense for your final exams!

Gs-3 : Economic growth- Banking- NPAs

🅾️Background :

⚜️Banks hold ₹93,240 crore in stressed unsecured loans.
⚜️Unsecured loans are 7% of total and one-third of personal loan credit.
⚜️Risk weights on credit card receivables increased to 150% by the central bank

🅾️Implications
: Watch this video to understand CRAR- NPA-PCA- https://youtu.be/GQA3w_cnhYY

➡️ Banks will now be required to hold more capital against the risk of default on credit card receivables, reflecting a higher perceived risk in this asset category.
➡️This could lead to a more cautious approach to issuing credit cards or approving transactions, as banks may seek to minimize risky exposures.
➡️With more capital tied up in safeguarding against potential credit card defaults, banks' profitability could be affected due to lower capital efficiency.
➡️Consumers may face higher costs for credit card borrowing
➡️There might be a tightening of credit availability

🅾️This is a critical article. You can put this article under 4th point of challenges to a Democracy -

📍Background :
Censorship- against freedom of speech

➡️Censorship in India has evolved from strictly overseeing newspapers and TV to now also covering online content due to recent laws. New rules created in 2021 help the government monitor and manage what is shared on the internet, including news and streaming services. The proposed law seeks to give the government more power over all media, leading to concerns about possible limits on people's freedom to speak and share freely

➡️However, we can safely say that no medium should be left unaddressed and unregulated.

Gs-3 : Climate change- climate policy and climate transition.

🅾️Prerequisite for this is -Energy Transition- “Energy Atmanirbharta” by 2040- This article is a very practical insight on how to move away from petrol-

➡️Present article : Particulate Matter (PM2.5 and PM10) from the transport and construction sectors is a significant contributor to pollution. Diesel trucks, a major part of India's transport sector, contribute heavily to PM emissions. India has made progress in electrifying railways, but only a fraction of freight transport benefits from this. About 9 lakh new trucks join the 70 lakh existing fleet annually, increasing oil dependency and emissions.

➡️Electrification Push: There is a push for transitioning to electric trucks (e-trucks) to meet sustainability and energy security needs.

⚠️Cost Barrier: High upfront costs and inadequate charging infrastructure hinder e-truck adoption.
